Fascia

Deep and respectful manual treatment of the fascial system in Orihuela Costa and La Zenia to release tension, restore mobility, and promote body balance.

At Somat Clinic, in La Zenia (Orihuela Costa), we approach the fascia as a key structure for the body’s overall well-being, using precise and gentle techniques that help restore its balance. We are a reference center for the treatment of FASCIA. Fascial therapies focus on the fascial tissue, a three-dimensional network that surrounds and connects organs, muscles, nerves, and body structures. When this network becomes tight or loses mobility, it can cause pain, physical dysfunctions, or emotional disturbances.
What is fascia and why treat it?

The continuity of the fascial tissue, or rather the fascial system, allows it to act as an integrating and intercommunicating element, enabling communication with other structures of the body. The “fascia” is not only present in the locomotor system, but is also found throughout all the body’s systems: respiratory, nervous, digestive, circulatory-cardiovascular, immune, genitourinary, and hormonal.

Fascial dysfunctions cause limitations in the functions of the body’s structures and produce pain. Therefore, well-applied myofascial therapy could bring great benefits to the patient, as a good tensional state of this system (fascial tissue) would allow the optimal development of body dynamics (movement in all planes, tissues, and systems), which is fundamental for maintaining health as well as recovering from dysfunctions or pathologies.

Common Indications
  • Chronic or persistent pain
  • Mobility restrictions
  • Post-surgical scars or adhesions
  • Stress and emotional overload
  • Digestive or gynecological disorders
  • Headaches, bruxism, dizziness
  • Fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue
  • Respiratory dysfunctions
Gentle, deep, and precise technique
Fascial therapy is performed through very subtle contact, without forcing or causing pain. The therapist listens to the rhythm and response of the body, facilitating self-regulation and the natural unlocking of tissues. It is a technique especially suitable for people sensitive to pain, pediatric patients, elderly individuals, or situations where intense manipulation is not advisable.

Treating the fascia allows releasing deep tensions, improving overall mobility, and rebalancing the nervous system. In our sessions, we combine this technique with other disciplines (osteopathy, craniosacral, visceral…) to offer a comprehensive approach tailored to each need.

What is Myofascial Induction?

At our center, we endorse Myofascial Induction Therapy – MIT® – and our physiotherapists have completed the full training in Myofascial Induction Therapy – MIT® –, including specialized training in Somatoemotional Induction.

The creator of the method, Professor Andrzej Pilat, defines the Myofascial Induction method – MIT® – as “an evaluation and treatment method where three-dimensional movements and sustained pressures are applied throughout the fascial system to eliminate its restrictions.”

Therefore, in many situations, our patients (at all stages of life) could benefit from work on the fascia: sports, respiratory disorders, pelvic floor disorders, pregnancy and postpartum, sleep disturbances, nervous system dysfunctions (central and peripheral), circulatory issues (lymphedema), and digestive problems.
